– Short Description: ACHIK TASH (3,600m) = base camp for PEAK LENIN (7,134m) — the world’s MOST ACCESSIBLE SEVEN-THOUSANDER. The mountain was first climbed in 1928 by a German-Soviet expedition and named after Lenin (official name: IBN Sina Peak / Qullai Ismoili Somoni). 200+ climbers attempt the summit each season (June–August); success rate ~50%. The BC is an extraordinary place: an international tent city with climbers from 40+ countries. The landscape is vast — the Trans-Alay range stretches 200km east-west. FOR NON-CLIMBERS: the hike to BC from Sary-Mogul (3 days) is one of the finest in southern Kyrgyzstan. The TRAVELLERS’ PASS (4,100m) above BC gives spectacular views.
