– Short Description: ARSLANBOB (1,782m) = home of the WORLD’S LARGEST WALNUT FOREST — a 600km² ancient forest of wild Juglans regia (walnut), almonds, apples, pears, and plums at 1,700–2,800m altitude. Scientists believe this forest was a primary source for the cultivated walnut spread along the Silk Road. WATERFALLS: the SMALL WATERFALL (25m) is 1hr walk; the BIG WATERFALL (80m) is 2.5hr walk — both beautiful. SACRED LAKE: Kol-Mazar, a sacred lake in the forest (2.5hr hike). SEPTEMBER: the walnut harvest brings the entire village together — extraordinary atmosphere.
