 – Short Description: CHATYR-KUL LAKE (3,530m) = a wild, remote high-altitude lake near the TORUGART PASS (3,752m — China-Kyrgyzstan border crossing). MARCO POLO SHEEP (Ovis ammon polii): the largest wild sheep in the world, with horns up to 190cm — roam the surrounding plateau in herds. The lake is in a wide, treeless plateau at 3,530m — extremely cold even in summer (temperatures below 0°C any night). SNOW LEOPARD habitat. The absence of tourists (due to permit requirement) makes this one of the most pristine + wild landscapes in all of Kyrgyzstan.
