Khan Tengri = ‘Prince of Heaven’ — a symmetrical marble pyramid that glows red at sunrise + sunset (the ‘Blood Mountain’). The BASE CAMP at 4,100m on South Inylchek Glacier is one of the most extraordinary settings in the world: surrounded by 7,000m peaks (Khan Tengri, Pobeda/Jengish Chokusu 7,439m — the highest peak in Kyrgyzstan). PERMIT + helicopter are mandatory unless doing the 5-day approach trek. Season: July–August ONLY.
