 – Short Description: KARAKOL GORGE ALPLAGERI (2,300m) = the traditional START POINT for the ALA-KUL LAKE TREK. The Soviet alpinist camp has been partially restored — basic rooms available. FREE CAMPING is common in the meadows above. The trail from here to Ala-Kul Lake (3,532m) takes 1.5–2 days via the Karakol Valley + side valley. BEAR encounters reported in the upper valley — food storage important. The Karakol National Park entrance gate is near here.
