The CBT office here is excellent — organizes: (1) 4WD transport to Song-Kol (3hr drive); (2) Horse treks to Song-Kol (3 days from Kyzart); (3) FELT-MAKING WORKSHOPS at local women’s cooperatives; (4) Permits if needed. SHYRDAK: the traditional felt carpet (red/orange geometric patterns) — one of Central Asia’s finest craft traditions. The CBT cooperative employs 200+ women in the region.
