 – Short Description: KEY SILK ROAD SITES: (1) BURANA TOWER (Chui Valley, 915m): 11th-century minaret — all that remains of ancient Balasagyn city. 25m tall, lean visible. BALBALS: Scythian warrior stone statues collected on site. (2) TASH-RABAT CARAVANSERAI (Naryn Oblast, 3,500m): perfectly preserved 15th-century stone caravanserai (covered in section 5). (3) UZGEN (Osh Oblast, 1,000m): 11th-century minarets + mausoleum complex of the Karakhanid dynasty. (4) BALASAGYN RUINS (Tokmok area, 800m): ancient Silk Road city excavation. Kyrgyzstan sits on the CENTRAL ROUTE of the Silk Road — the land connection between China + the Mediterranean.
