 – Short Description: One of Mexico’s most remote and extraordinary cultural experiences. The Lacandón Maya are the last descendants of the ancient Maya who fled into the Selva Lacandona jungle to avoid Spanish conquest. Only ~600 Lacandón people remain. Nahá community opens their territory to a very limited number of respectful visitors. Pristine Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve jungle: tapir, jaguar (rarely seen), harpy eagle, spider monkeys.
