– Short Description: Palo Verde NP — Costa Rica’s most important wetland and tropical dry forest park. UNESCO Ramsar Wetland. Dry season (Dec–Apr): thousands of waterbirds (jabiru storks, roseate spoonbills, black-bellied whistling ducks) concentrate in the lagoons as water levels drop. Crocodiles, howler monkeys, coatis, white-tailed deer. Boat tour on Tempisque River (best with guide). OTS (Organization for Tropical Studies) runs a biological station on site with meals.
