The SARY-CHELEK NATURE RESERVE (238km²) is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The lake changes colors with the weather: brilliant turquoise in sun, deep slate blue under cloud. WILDLIFE: European otter (rare), wild boar, wolves, foxes, golden eagles. The trek from the guesthouse to the lake (5km one-way) passes through extraordinary forest + wildflower meadows.
