 – Short Description: SARY-TASH (3,200m) = the PAMIR HIGHWAY JUNCTION village — where the road splits toward: (1) TAJIKISTAN via Kyzyl-Art Pass (4,280m) → Murghab → Pamir Highway; (2) CHINA via Irkeshtam Pass → Kashgar. Guesthouses here are simple but functional. The ALAY VALLEY view from Sary-Tash: one of the most dramatic in Central Asia — the flat green valley (2,800m) with the snow-capped TRANS-ALAY RANGE (including Lenin Peak 7,134m) forming a wall 50km to the north. An extraordinary high-altitude landscape.
