– Short Description: Volcán Irazú (3,432m) — Costa Rica’s highest volcano and only place in the country where you can see BOTH Pacific AND Caribbean simultaneously on a clear day. Two craters: the main green crater lake and the Diego de la Haya crater. Lunar landscape near summit. Most visited as day trip from San José or Cartago (1.5hr by car on paved road). Last major eruption 1963–1965 (covered San José in ash). Active fumaroles.
